New Code Orange alert for rainfalls in almost half of Romania


Weathermen have issued a new warning for bad weather on Monday, valid through Thursday, with heavy rain, storms, thunderstorms and hail in store. Some areas are under code yellow alert, with falls reaching up to 40 liters per square meter, while other counties are under code orange warning until Tuesday, with heavy rainfalls registering up to 80l/sqm.

The code yellow alert is valid until Tuesday at 10:00hrs in Moldavia, Oltenia, Muntenia, Transylvania, Maramures and locally in Dobruja and Banat. Falls will reach up to 30-40l/sqm, accompanied by thunderstorm, hailstorm, strong wind.

The code orange alert is valid as of today, 12:00hrs until Tuesday at 6:00hrs.

There will be heavy rainfalls in Moldavia, northern half of Muntenia and Oltenia, as well as in southern Transylvania.

Alerts are targeting the Capital, Bucharest, and such counties as Alba, Argeş, Bacău, Bistriţa-Năsăud, Brăila, Botoşani, Braşov, Buzău, Cluj, Călăraşi, Caraş-Severin, Constanţa, Covasna, Dâmboviţa, Dolj, Gorj, Galaţi, Giurgiu, Hunedoara, Harghita, Ialomiţa, Iaşi, Mehedinţi, Maramureş, Mureş, Neamţ, Olt, Prahova, Sibiu, Sălaj, Satu Mare, Suceava, Tulcea, Teleorman, Vâlcea, Vrancea and Vaslui.
