NGO files criminal complaint for abuse of office against Interior minister and riot police chiefs
„Evolution in the Institution” association will file a criminal complaint for abuse of office against Interior Minister Carmen Dan and against the Gendarmerie chiefs, Sebastian Cucoş and Ionuţ Cătălin Şindile, after the hearings in the Parliament’s Defence committee. The NGO accuse the officials of lack of transparency and unjustified classification of the report referring to the violent incidents during the Diaspora rally on August 10.
At the same time, the association will challenge the classification of the report in court.
The NGO argues that, under the article 33 of the law 182 from 2002, classification as secret service is banned for information that „are destined to provide citizens with information on public or personal interest issues”, in order to favour or hide the obstruction of the judiciary.
The complaint will be sent to the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA) by mail.
The representatives of the association slammed the Interior minister for „daring disclose professional secrecy when it comes to deeds committed by protesters”, and for that reason they filed another complaint against Carmen Dan for classifying information that should be public.
