Nicu Covaci’s Agent Denies Rumors of His Cremation

The coffin with the lifeless body of the Phoenix leader, Nicu Covaci, was deposited on Tuesday at the Timișoara Philharmonic, where fans can say goodbye to him for two days. The funeral will take place on Thursday, also in Timisoara.
The coffin of the Phoenix leader is white, has the Phoenix bird on it and has four lines from the famous song “Invocation” inscribed on it. “May only he who has grace / Has to be reborn, cleansed by embers, / From his own ashes and from his own ashes, / Today as tomorrow, always and now” – are the lyrics from the song Invocation, by on the Cantafabule album.

Those who want to pay tribute to him are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday in the foyer on the 1st floor of the Timișoara Philharmonic, on Tuesday, between 11:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, between 09:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The artist’s family stated that fans are not allowed to bring candles or wreaths, but they can lay a flower. Also, no more than 100 people will be allowed to enter at once in order not to create overcrowding, the Philharmonic reported. Those close to Nicu Covaci stated that the funeral ceremony, which will take place on Thursday, will be private.
Nicu Covaci will be buried in the Heroes’ Cemetery in Timisoara, thus denying previous statements that he will be cremated. The impresario of the Phoenix band, Raluca Talasman, denied the information about the cremation of Nicu Covaci’s body.
“There was never even a question of cremation. It got out in the press that, oh my God, the family was against the band’s decision. The band never had a say, I mean we don’t do anything else… That we don’t belong. We are not a decision-making factor”, said Talasman. Nicu Covaci (77 years old), founder and leader of the Phoenix band, died on Friday, at the Timișoara County Hospital, following an aggressive form of brain cancer.
