34 people have been injured following the storms on Tuesday, most of the victims were registered in Galati and Braila counties (eastern Romania) – 13 people. A woman in Ramnicu Sarat has died as a tree fell on her. Hundreds of trees were put to the ground and 50 cars were damaged, tvr.ro informs.
The storm in Galati and Braila lasted only 15 minutes, 200 trees were put to the ground, producing damages. 13 people were injured and taken to hospital.
European Road 585 Braila-Slobozia and national road DN 25 Galati-Tecuci were blocked due to the fallen trees.
ISU Galati spokesman Eugen Zaharia announced that, following the storm, the Galati Ambulance Service registered ten calls about people struck by tree branches, panels, a metal gate and pieces of roof. All patients were transported by ambulance to Galati County Emergency Hospital.
In Bucharest too several incidents took place as a result of bad weather – rain, wind and electric discharges. At the City Hall, an Emergency Committee was set up to monitor the effects of weather phenomena.
In Lopătari commune, in Buzău County, a strong flood destroyed everything in its way. 300 families have remained isolated without bridges, footbridges and roads. The yards and gardens have turned into huge ponds. The local council has asked for help from the county council because it lacks the equipment and money for repairs.
