Romanian Orthodox Church (BOR) Patriarch Daniel has granted an interview in more than ten years, saying that King Michael I loved the Romanian people and was a patient man with great faith.
“We have to admit that the King loved the Romanian people and had patience for 45 years until the communist regime fell and could return to the country. He was patient and this patience had a great deal of hope in it. We believe it was homage, homage to a man who suffered a lot and who, at the same time, had great faith and strong hope. This is why we titled our speech at the funeral ‘King Michael I of Romania, a symbol of suffering and hope,’ the Patriarch has told the public television TVR 1.
