Photo featuring President Iohannis next to a shepherd on mountain top gets viral
President Klaus Iohannis and his wife Carmen have climbed the Parâng Massif on Sunday. The President was seen in a photo posted on Facebook by a shepherd met on the route. The photo became viral on the Internet.
The presidential couple, accompanied by several acquaintances, climbed the Parâng in Hunedoara county and took pictures with the tourists underway. One of the photos featuring Iohannis and a shepherd became viral, being shared hundreds of times.
“Yes, it’s true. The Romania’s President was in Parâng mountains with his wife on Sunday, up to the Parângul Mare and back,” the head of the Hunedoara Mountain Rescue service, Ovidiu Bodean confirmed on Monday.
Parângul Mare Peak is the highest in the Parâng Massif, with an altitude of 2,519m, being the fourth mountain peak in Romania.
In early July, President Iohannis and his wife visited Lake Bucura in Retezat Mountains and he also took pictures with the tourists on the route.
