Policemen and penitentiaries’ employees protest, dissatisfied with wage inequalities

Police officers are in protest in on Thursday front of the Interior Ministry and the penitentiaries’ staff in front of the Ministry of Justice.

The policemen and penitentiary employees are dissatisfied with wage inequalities and the freezing of wage rights of those working in public order, as well as with the inequities in special pensions.

Several reservists have joined the protests, the public television informs.

The protesters will hold the rally in front of the Interior Ministry by 12.00h and then will head for the Justice Ministry, the same source informs.

The penitentiaries’ employees also say they had too many extra hours that have not been paid.

The protest is organized on Thursday, when an informal meeting of Justice and Home Affairs Ministers of the EU member states takes place in Bucharest.

The protests will continue on February 8, as of 8.30h, in front of the Parliament, the Trade Union Federation of National Penitentiary Administration (FSANP) informs.
