Non-Euro, Euro 1 and Euro 2 (pollution norm 0, 1 and 2) vehicles will be banned downtown Bucharest as of 2022, while Euro 3 cars will be forbidden as of 2024, according to the Oxigen pollution draft resolution adopted by the Bucharest councilmen on Thursday.
Bucharest general mayor announced since August her intention to enforce the pollution vignette as of next year, but draft resolution has been eventually amended and will be implemented later.
The Oxigen draft resolution has passed by the Bucharest General Council by 31 votes, with these consistent amendments that are practically delaying the enforcement.
Depending on the pollution norm, the vignettes costs will range from RON 500 to RON 1,900 per year.
After she proposed the vignette in August, for the vehicles that are not from Bucharest and Ilfov county in order to curb the pollutant emissions, the Municipality explained the decision is prompted by the concerning figures on the upward trend of pollution in the Romanian Capital.
