Four Lockheed Martin F-16AM Fighting Falcon fighter aircraft of the Portuguese Air Force have arrived on Monday at the Romanian Air Force 71st Air, Mediafax informs quoting janes.com.
According to the Portuguese Armed Forces General Staff Public Affairs assistant the aircraft of Squadron 201 ‘Falcões’ and Squadron 301 ‘Jaguares’ from Monte Real airbase No. 5 will be stationed in Romania until June 30 as part of ‘Falcon Defence 2015’ unitary concept training mission. This is intended as a reassurance measure for the alliance’s eastern members and also to meet specific NATO interoperability and standardisation requirements.
The contingent’s initial operational capability will be achieved on May 4 and full operational capability on May 6.
