Positive evolution after surgery of the crashed aircraft’s pilot

The post-surgery evolution of the pilot who catapulted from a military plane in Constanta County on a Monday is favourable, hemo-dynamically and respiratory balanced, informs the representatives of the Carol Davila Emergency Central Military Hospital.

“The patient is well after the surgery, he has a favourable evolution, balanced hemodynamic and respiratory, he is conscious, cooperative. He was not yet transferred out from the intensive care department, he is evaluated daily from the neurosurgical, neurological and pneumologic point of view.

The patient continues treatment for the prophylaxis of pain and stress ulcer and antibiotic therapy.

“The level of leg mobility was maintained, he did not need blood transfusions. Kinetotherapy and bedding procedures have begun,” the same source says, adding that the pilot has psychological counselling and benefits from the support of the family.

A MiG21 LanceR aircraft crashed on Monday in Constanta County, 8 kilometres away from the Mihail Kogalniceanu military air base, between the localities of Nazarcea, Culmea and Ovidiu, shortly after taking off the airport at 11:14h for a training flight.

Lieutenant-Commander Adrian Stancu, pilot on a MiG 21 LanceR aircraft of the Romanian Air Force, catapulted on Monday, near Mihail Kogalniceanu Airport, after reporting a major engine failure. The aircraft was conducting a training mission, according to the Defence Ministry (MoD).

The pilot has suffered spinal column traumas.
