Defence Minister Adrian Ţuţuianu has announced that on Friday, he has met with representatives of the US company General Dynamics Land Systems, stating that a joint venture will be set up in association with the Uzina Mecanică Bucharest.
“Today, we had an important discussion together with Mr. Mihai Fifor (Economy Minister – our note) with an American company – General Dynamics Land Systems. There are two important issues for Romania’s defence industry: by the end of the year the setting up of a joint venture will be completed and next year, during July – August, we will have production actually made in Romania, in association with Uzina Mecanică Bucharest. It also means high technology transfer to Romania, jobs, and more taxes to the state budget,” said the Defence Minister at the beginning of the Government sitting.
In his turn, Prime Minister Mihai Tudose said: “Here is another example of Romania’s attractiveness. Three-four large contracts lately.”
