President Klaus Iohannis congratulated Roma ethnics on the International Roma Day marked on Wednesday, April 8. ”I believe that the diversity of culture and tradition can enrich a society, while also making it more tolerant and more inclusive,” the President’s message reads.
According to the Romanian head of state, this day represents “an occasion of reflection on the problems faced by the Roma ethnic communities and citizens.”
“Acknowledging the difficulties and especially finding long-term solutions through joint efforts and dialogue between all those responsible is a test of maturity for the society. The social inclusion of all the disadvantaged or vulnerable groups is linked to the project of a modern Romania — a country that supports and promotes the education, the culture, the performance and the unity in diversity, that appreciates every individual and offers opportunities without discrimination,” reads the message issued by the Presidential Administration.
