Prosecutor Emilian Eva was sentenced on Tuesday by the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ – Supreme Court) to 2 years and 11 months imprisonment, suspended sentence, for bribe taking offenses and financial operations as acts of incompatibility with the office.

Also, Emilian Eva was sentenced to pay a criminal fine of RON 12,000 for false statements, but he was acquitted for the charge of money laundering.

The decision is not final and can be appealed. Emilian Eva became known after working on the privatization file of the Food Research Institute (ICA), in which businessman Dan Voiculescu was sentenced to ten years in prison.
