Public servants on warning strike at the end of the month. General strike as of February 5

Local Public Administration employees go on warning strike on January 31, 2024 and then on general strike from February 5 for an indefinite period, according to a press release from the Columna-Scor Federation.

According to the cited source, the protest seeks to resolve the following 3 claims:

1. Full application of the provisions of the Law – framework no. 153/2017 regarding the salary of staff paid from public funds for the staff of the Local Public Administration, by reference to the minimum wage per economy of 3,300 lei.

“At this moment, the employees of the Local Public Administration are not guaranteed, by law, salary increases, as happens to dignitaries or other categories of personnel in the budgetary field, being blocked for 5 years in a row by the train ordinances”, according to the quoted source.

2. Reforming the local budget financing system. “The Local Public Administration is positioned in a chronic and systematic underfunding, the funding system being anachronistic and lacking in coherence, the local public authorities being unable to fulfill their duties and powers provided by the Constitution and the Law, a situation that has a negative impact and regarding the salary”, the trade unionists say.

3. Unblocking collective negotiations for civil servants at the level of a group of units/sector of activity and stopping political interference in the exercise of public office.

“The COLUMNA-SCOR Federation will in the following period ensure compliance with all the necessary legal steps to carry out the strike action so that the grievances of the employees of the Local Public Administration will find a favorable solution in the shortest possible time”, says the Federation.
