Rainfall and wind gusts countrywide as of Friday. Snowfall in the mountains as of Saturday

Meteorologists have issued on Friday a weather warning for wind intensification and rainfall, in force in most regions. As of Saturday night, snowfall will predominate in the mountains.

During the night of Friday to Saturday (February 2-3) and on Saturday (February 3), the rainfall area will gradually expand to most of the regions, and in the western half of the country will accumulate on average 15-20 litres per square metre.

In the mountainous areas, at altitudes below 1,800 m, rain will predominate and, especially in western and northern massifs, the quantities of water will reach 25-30 l/sqm. On isolated areas there will be conditions for glazed frost, hotnews.ro informs.

The wind will grow stronger in the mountains, especially on the ridges, where the gusts will exceed 100 km/h and will have average levels of 50-55 km/h in Banat, Crisana, Maramures and Transylvania and on restricted areas in the rest of the country.

According to meteorologists, as of Saturday evening, snowfall will prevail in the mountains, with wind gusts and blizzards. In northern, north-west and central Romania the precipitations will be poor, as sleet and snow, glazed frost expected. Strong winds will be registered in the rest of the country as well, mainly in south and east, gusts of 50-55 km/h.
