Exceptional Heatwaves Worldwide in Early November.

This weekend will bring exceptionally high temperatures to the southernmost part of the country, reaching up to 28°C. However, the rest of the country will experience heavy rainfall, with temperatures ranging between 14°C and 18°C at noon on Saturday. This will be significantly warmer than usual, and the rain is expected to subside on Sunday, according to ANM (National Meteorological Administration) maps.

On Friday morning, temperatures ranged from -3°C in Miercurea Ciuc to +15.8°C in Sulina, as reported by ANM data.

More than 20 counties are under a yellow wind warning until Saturday, and the western half of the country will see showers.

On Friday, maximum temperatures will range from 16°C to 25°C, with Muntenia experiencing the warmest weather. Transylvania will also see maximum temperatures of 23°C.

Saturday is expected to bring widespread rainfall across the country. Minimum temperatures will range from 4°C in Transylvania to 15°C in southern Dobrogea. There will be significant temperature differences at noon, with maximum temperatures reaching 28°C in southern Muntenia and Dobrogea. However, 28°C will be isolated in the south, as Muntenia will experience maximum temperatures of 14°C and Oltenia 13°C. Rain is expected in all regions. In Transylvania, temperatures at noon will range from 14°C to 18°C, a few degrees cooler than Friday, while Moldova will see temperatures between 16°C and 22°C. In western Romania, maximum temperatures will range from 16°C to 20°C.

On Sunday, minimum temperatures will be between 4°C and 13°C, and widespread rain will continue in the first part of the day. Maximum temperatures will range from 14°C to 25°C, with less rain expected in the second half of the day. In Bucharest, the weather will be warm, with a maximum of 22°C on Friday. Saturday will bring a maximum temperature of 19°C with rain, but Sunday will see temperatures rise again, reaching 22°C, which will persist on Monday and Tuesday.

Exceptional Heatwaves Worldwide in Early November

Senegal experienced temperatures of 44°C, while Dubai reached 38°C, and nearly 1,000 temperature records were broken in China during November, the 11th month of the year. The heatwaves began on January 1, 2023, and have appeared almost every month, with the most persistent ones in South America and Japan.

These current heatwaves are exceptional as they have occurred simultaneously in different parts of the world, bringing temperatures more than 20°C above normal.

On Thursday, Linguere, Senegal, recorded 44°C, but record temperatures for November were seen in several countries, including China, Tunisia, the Philippines, Cyprus, Malta, North Korea, South Korea, Mongolia, and Bangladesh.

Mongolia saw temperatures of +21.8°C in two locations: Khovsgol and Zamiin-Uud. North Korea recorded +27.3°C in Nampo, and Dubai reached +38°C.

Exceptionally high temperatures were also recorded in southern Europe, with +34.2°C in Kouris, Cyprus, and +29.1°C in Luqa, Malta. Tunisia saw temperatures above 36°C, and Turkey recorded temperatures exceeding 31°C. Southern Russia experienced temperatures of 30°C.

In Japan, over 120 heat records for November were broken, with some places having nighttime lows above 29°C.

China saw the most November heat records broken, with Daxing, near Beijing, having a nighttime low of +22.3°C.
