The author of the photo, the artist Kerekes István is from Târgu Mureș and has a very rich track record with many international awards. The portrait of Yelena, the little girl captured on the porch of a house in Maramureș, in 2009, exceeded all expectations. The author has achieved 600 interactive awards in 58 countries and holds a world record for the most acclaimed portrait photograph ever. No other photographer has achieved this performance ever since.
The photograph is displayed in an exhibition that also contains other works by the artist.
The most famous and most awarded portrait photo is titled Yelena, with which she has so far won 600 international awards in 58 countries on 6 continents. Based on the FIAP data, this result is a world record”, says the Facebook page of the artist’s latest opening, which takes place in Oradea.
The photographer captured the little girl while she was visiting Maramureș.
“When I saw this little girl, she was swinging on the porch of her family’s house. Her innocent look, the uniqueness of her facial expression, her beauty and irresistible charm caught my attention at that moment,” the photographer explained on his official website.
The artist was born in Romania, lived for a long time in Târgu Mureș, and settled in Hungary for 15 years.
