Rector of Iasi University, ex-JusMin Tudorel Toader says no hall available for President Iohannis’ book launch
“AL.I. Cuza” University in Iasi has denied to provide a hall for President Iohannis’ book launch in this city this Saturday, May 11. In a press release signed by the university rector, Tudorel Toader, former Justice Minister, the institutions informs it cannot provide any conference hall for the book launch on that day, as the room is booked for other events for which other reservations have been already made.
The rector argues that cancellation of those events to make room for the head of state’s book launch “would put the University in the position not to honour its already assumed commitments”.
The representatives of the Iasi University argued that “Mihai Eminescu” Magna Aula is booked for several other events on May 11, the first one being a Criminology Conference during 7 a.m. to 15 p.m., which is getting together 400 participants. Rector Toader also claims that the request for this conference was filed on April 1, while the request of the Curtea Veche Publishing House for Iohannis’ book launch was submitted on May 2.
In retort, the publishing house said that there is not such conference set at the university according to the schedule.
Klaus Iohannis is to launch his latest book “EU.RO- An open dialogue about Europe” in Iasi on Saturday. Sources also revealed that the head of state would also attend the PNL’s electoral rally in Iasi on the same day.
