Riot police buys over 1,000 9x19mm guns for special and anti-terrorist actions

The Romanian Gendarmerie (riot police) has launched a public tender to buy maximum 1,600 9x19mm SA/DA guns to equip the staff of the special and anti-terrorist structures. The total value of the contract mounts to over RON 4 million.

“The weapons for the special and anti-terrorist missions within the Romanian Gendarmerie are mostly worn, physically and morally, and they can jeopardize both the user and the third parties. The contract to purchase the guns aims at improving the logistics support of the missions and the increase of the technical facilities quality, of the response and intervention capabilities of the gendarmes”, reads a press release by the Gendarmerie.

The total estimated value of the contract is RON 4,033,600 and the bids will be opened as of June 14.
