Romania ranks first at International Geography Olympiad

Romanian Olympic team won four medals- one gold medal, two silver medals and a bronze one- at the International Geography Olympiad 2015, ranking first in the competition, Romanian Education Ministry informed. Over 150 pupils from 40 countries raced for the geography international contest held in Tver, Russia August 10-18.
Costin George Dobrin, 11th grade at “Mircea cel Batran” National College in Constant won the gold medal. He got a silver medal last year at the International Olympiad of Earth Sciences.
Elena Aura Amironesei, 12th grade at the National College in Iasi and Sonia Adelina Sortan, 12th grade at “Decebal” National College in Deva won the silver medals. Elena Amironesei also won silver at the previous edition of the Olympiad last year.
Lorena Davidel, 12th grade at “Nicu Gane” National College in Falticeni (Suceava) got the bronze medal.
The Olympic team was accompanied by professors Mihaela Cornelia Fiscutean si Dorin Fiscutean from the National College in Iasi.
At the previous edition of the Olympiad last year Romania ranked first in Europe and third in the world, after winning two gold medals, a silver medal and a bronze one.
