Romania to provide aid to Australia in the fight against bushfires
Romanian Interior minister is answering to the European call to provide help to Australia in its battle against bushfires, announcing our country has forces ready to be sent to Australia in this respect. President Klaus Iohannis has been informed on the resources Romania has to provide aid.
“The Interior Ministry is answering the call launched at European level and is ready to deploy forces to Australia. The EUCPM- Civil Protection Mechanism-has been activated at EU level following widespread fires in Australia“, says a ministry’s press release.
The ERCC has launched a call on Monday evening to the member states to report asap on the resources they have to intervene in Australia.
“Romanian President Klaus Iohannis has been informed on the resources Romania has and asked Romania to provide help as soon as possible,” the minister explained.
Three bushfires merged and formed a giant fire in the Australian state Victoria, on an area similar to the size of Manhattan district in New York. The bushfires affected around 6,000 hectares. The death toll climbed to 23. 1,500 houses were destroyed.
