Romania to send military in Iraq

Romania wants to send military instructors in Iraq, within the international coalition fighting ISIS. President Klaus Iohannis asked the Parliament to approve this mission.

So, 50 Romanian military coming from Special Forces, military information and land forces brigades will train the Iraqi army. The mission is scheduled only for this year and will be deployed only on the Iraqi territory.

The mission has been already approved by the Supreme Council for National Defence, got the green light of the Parliament’s specialist committees but it still needs the plenary vote. After that, the Defence Ministry will sign a memorandum with the US partners who are leading the international coalition against ISIS.
