All climbers blocked in camp 1 on Everest after the earthquake of magnitude 7.8 in Nepal which caused several avalanches, have been brought by helicopter to the base camp on Tuesday morning, according to Romanian climber Alex Gavan who posted a message on a social network.

“On Everest/Lhotse all those stranded in camp 1 have been safely taken off by helicopter to the base camp this morning by Maurizio Folini. No one remained up there, just the equipment,” wrote the Romanian climber.

In a message posted earlier, he said that a large Russian helicopter belonging to the Indian army had just evacuated two Indian citizens from Lukla, adding that it was not enough space for all and that the weather is rainy and foggy.
