Romanian Foreign Ministry issues travel alert on Hurricane Irma for Romanians travelling to Florida
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued on Monday a travel alert for the Romanian citizens travelling to Florida, where the effects of the Hurricane Irma will be felt in the upcoming hours.
“The ministry informs the Romanian citizens who are, are in transit of want to the travel to the US, in the Florida state that, after a decrease of the Irma’s force when passing across Cuba at level 3 (from a scale from one to five), as getting near the USA territory, the hurricane regained the force of a level 4 hurricane, with winds blowing with over 215km/h, following a course up to the north from Key West and reaching the peninsular area by Marco island,” says the MFA press release.
The ministry also announced that the hurricane’s effects will be felt alongside Florida’s western coast, up to Tampa city. The seaside areas on both coasts will be hurt following the increase of the ocean’s level due to strong wind and tide. Over one million and a half people ran out of electricity, and the number is expected to grow in the following hours. Phone lines were also affected.
