Romanian Lawyer in Roșia Montană Case Appointed to Top Arbitration Role
Ștefan Deaconu, one of the lawyers who successfully represented Romania in the “Roșia Montană” trial, was appointed as an arbitrator on behalf of Romania within the International Center for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), part of the World Bank, informs the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR).
ICSID is the very court that won Romania’s case in the Roșia Montană case.
ICSID, established in 1966, is the world’s leading institution dedicated to the resolution of international investment disputes through conciliation, mediation, and arbitration. Currently, there are 165 signatory states to the “Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of Other States”, the document that formed the basis of ICSID.
