The Romanian-Moldo-German Cultural Center “Dumitru Dorin Prunariu” in Nuremberg, Germany, managed to enter the Book of Records twice: for the longest Romanian belt made in three months, which measures 1,667.41 meters, and for the heaviest belt, which weighed 70 kilograms.
The Romanian belt was measured, a day ago, by a commission from the Book of Records in the center of Nuremberg, on Jakobsplatz.
“Romanians from all over the world wrote history in Nuremberg! I entered the book of records twice: 1) for the longest Romanian belt, made in 3 months – 1667.41 meters. 2) for the heaviest belt, which weighed 70 kilograms. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who were actively involved in making this belt, my colleagues Valentina Banu and Daniela Lostun, but also the hundreds of people who today had the patience to sit with us when measuring it, which lasted better for three hours”, said the coordinator of the Association “Dacia e.V. Germany” and the Romanian-Moldo-German Cultural Center in Nuremberg, Ionela van Rees-Zota, on Facebook.
The start for the making of the largest Romanian belt was given on February 24, 2024, by Dragobete, when the Romanian-Moldo-German Cultural Center “Dumitru Dorin Prunariu” in Nuremberg launched an invitation for all Romanians from all over the world to sew, to weave, to make by hand a belt of at least one meter, which he should send to Nuremberg, by June 23, on Iea Day.
“Many organizations gathered from many countries, from New Zealand to the Republic of Moldova, and more than 1,000 people gathered, because they are associations, they are Romanian residents from all countries and from Romania, where there were hundreds of people or dozens of people within them and they wove as much as each one could. From a meter up. We had an association that also sent 40 meters. Two records were achieved. It is the longest Romanian belt made by Romanians everywhere, from all over the world, but also the heaviest, because it was weighed”, the coordinator of the Romanian-Moldo-German Cultural Center in Nuremberg, Ionela van Rees-Zota.

Each person who contributed to this record could choose a favorite model for the belt they made, the only requirement was that the belt be 7-8 centimeters wide and at least 1.5 meters long.
