An air mass with Saharan dust particles covers Romania, from today until Thursday evening, at 22.00.

Dust deposits will be observed especially in areas and intervals with rain.

Between March 27, 12:00 p.m. and March 28, 10:00 p.m., the air circulation will remain predominantly south-westerly and will favor the penetration of an air mass loaded with dust particles of Saharan origin over Romania, with higher concentrations to be recorded in the south-western, southern and eastern regions“, announced ANM, in a press release.

According to the cited source, during the night from Thursday to Friday, the air mass loaded with dust particles will cross the territory of Romania and will be found above the Black Sea and Ukraine.

The meteorologists state that the rains will be reported especially in the west, southwest, center and north of the territory. “Dust deposits can be observed especially in the areas and intervals with rain“, ANM said.

Meteorologists announce strong wind and rain, in most of the country’s territory, until Friday evening, with two yellow code warnings being issued. In mountainous areas, gusts will exceed 90 kilometers per hour.

Saharan dust prompts the reddest sunrise at the seaside

An unprecedented phenomenon occurred this morning and could be observed from the shores of the Black Sea, in Constanta and several other cities.

The sky was deep red on Wednesday morning due to the Saharan dust particles that have reached our country, reflecting the sunlight. Shades of red, pink, yellow and orange turned the horizon into a painting.

Meteorologists explained that the phenomenon occurred due to a transport of warm air from North Africa.
It is a transport of warm air from northern Africa accompanied by a large amount of Saharan dust that crosses the Mediterranean basin and reaches over southern, central and eastern Europe. It is a phenomenon that repeats itself every spring and brings Saharan dust particles over our country. If this dust is also associated with precipitation, we will also have deposits at ground level on various objects, cars, etc.”
