April 1st is a celebration day for the Romanian Ornithological Society. For over 30 years, we have been celebrating Bird Day and the spectacle offered by winged creatures. So, go out into nature and enjoy the birds and spring migration.

Bird Day is an opportunity to reconnect with nature and observe the birds around us and the ecosystems in which they live alongside us. Bird enthusiasts can bring binoculars and a bird species identification guide and enjoy the auditory and visual show offered by the winged creatures.

“In a world where climate change and habitat degradation threaten bird populations globally, it is more important than ever that we get involved in conserving and protecting these amazing species. Bird Day gives us the opportunity to reflect on our impact on the environment and take action to protect birds and the fragile ecosystems in which they live. It is necessary to become aware that even we humans will not be able to live in a world where nature is degraded. In addition, bird watching can have significant benefits on our mental and physical health. According to recent studies, spending time in nature, especially in the presence of birds, can reduce stress, improve mood and increase overall well-being,” said SOR Executive Director Dan Hulea.
