Second hand luxury brands trendy in Romania

Romanians have recently been buying vintage, second-hand clothing in the current context of price increases, choosing luxury brands such as Versace, Moncler, Gucci, Balenciaga or Prada, according to the results of a study published on Tuesday by an online platform.

According to OLX data, the most expensive luxury clothing item currently reported as an active ad on OLX is listed at 10,000 euros, a men’s gala suit, and 6,000 euros is the listed price for a leopard fur cape natural, for women.

OLX argues that trading such products allowed the reduction of carbon emissions by 1.7 million tons and, at the same time, the saving of 18 million cubic meters of water and 209,000 tons of materials.

At the same time, in addition to this aspect, the financial factor contributes to the way in which Romanians make second-hand purchases. Thus, the purchase of second-hand clothing is a method of saving, in the context of rising inflation.

OLX reports approximately 600,000 clothing listings, of which 145,000 daily ads are in the “women’s clothing” category and 90,000 in the “men’s clothing” category.
