Senate Speaker Tăriceanu: DNA hasn’t changed at all, fake information is delivered

Senate Speaker, Calin Popescu Tariceanu claims, in a post on Facebook on Friday, that the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) hasn’t changed at all.

“DNA hasn’t changed at all. It continues being source information for the press through judicial sources, fake information is delivered, all kinds of pressures are laid in the public opinion on persons, before the trial. It’s the phenomenon we called tele-justice, a DNA trade mark, which is seen in this case. I’ve found out, in the past 24 hours, from various TV stations, that I’ve taken bribe. First it was said EUR 2 million, then USD 800,000, then 10% of the commission in the contract, then EUR 4 million. Well, against such a campaign of fake news promoted by the DNA I cannot defend, due to a very simple reason. Until now and most probably until next week, I do not have the possibility to see the file and the charges against me,” Tariceanu wrote on Facebook, antena3.ro reports.

The ALDE leader argues he is forced to refer to public information, given that DNA lets information to leak.

“The truth is I took no bribe, no money or other benefits from or within the so-called Microsoft deal. Now, I am mad and nervous, of course, because I have no way to prove it, unless I have access to the file; but this way of leaking information to the press, to build an unfavourable perception I have already seen in the file opened on me for false testimony, in which I’ve been acquitted. I expect now, although there are 72 volumes, so it is about hundreds, thousands of pages, the file to be weak and based on ‘there are reasonable suspicions’, ‘there are people stating, under cover, under protected identity’, with pressure laid on them, so that they can barely build up something,” Calin Popescu Tariceanu wrote.

The National Anticorruption Directorate officially announced on Thursday that Senate Speaker, Calin Popescu Tariceanu, is charged with receiving almost USD 800,000 from the representatives of an Austrian company, in order to conclude several additional documents to a contract, the money being used during the election campaign.

According to judicial sources quoted by G4Media, the company that had allegedly bribed Tariceanu is Fujitsu Siemens Computers GmbH Austria, the company that distributed the Microsoft licenses in Romania.
