Seven mayors from Moldavia set up alliance following the Western Alliance’s model
The mayors of such cities Suceava, Iași, Piatra-Neamț, Roman, Botoşani, Câmpulung Moldovenesc and Vatra Dornei have signed a framework agreement to set up the association „Moldavia is developing”, following the model of the Western Alliance, Newsbucovina.ro reported.
„This document is a collaboration framework agreement and we’ll set up an intracommunity association by the end of the first semester in 2019 to be able to used the European ITI tool to attract European funds. Once this document is signed, we launch the invitation to other municipalities to join us,” said the mayor of Suceava, Ion Lungu.
According to G4Media, the main goal of this alliance is to promote two large infrastructure projects, the East-West motorway, with EU funds and the North-South motorway, to link Moldavia to Bucharest.
„We consider we cannot stay in this situation anymore and we want to ink this partnership among localities, to be a model of organizations for Moldavia, to represent a negotiation power at government and European level, in order to develop the region of Moldavia”, the mayor added.
