A small plane had an accident on Thursday, with forced landing in the Mădăraş Peak area of Harghita County.
After the landing, the plane was on flames, but the pilot and co-pilot managed to get out. They seem to have suffered light injuries and will be evaluated by doctors. Because the accident occurred at high altitude, the rescue teams started off to the site by several off-road vehicles. Two crews from the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations with two cars, but also the mountain gendarmes and teams from SMURD were on the way. The SMURD helicopter could not land due to difficult terrain, so a doctor will descend for the medical evaluation of the two, IGSU informs.
Harghita Mountain Rescuers’ chief Fekete Ors said the area is hardly accessible, with dense forest.
