Snow and blizzard in the mountains until Friday morning

The National Meteorological Administration has issued two yellow codes warning that in several mountain areas there will be strong winds and blizzards will be recorded at high altitudes. Yellow code from Wednesday, 10.00 a.m. to Friday, 10.00 a.m In the mentioned interval, in the Eastern and Western Carpathians, as well as in the west of the Southern Carpathians, the wind will intensify, with speeds of 60…80 km/h, and on the ridges (generally at altitudes above 1700 m), the gusts will exceed 90…100 km/h and it will be blizzard.

Wind gusts, with speeds of 45…55 km/h, will be reported locally and in the rest of the territory, meteorologists note. Yellow code from Wednesday, 10.00 a.m. to Thursday, 10.00 p.m.

In the mentioned interval, in the Western Carpathians, the west of the Southern Carpathians and in the north of the Eastern Carpathians (Satu Mare, Maramureș, Bistrita-Năsăud and Mureș counties), there will temporarily be quantitatively moderate precipitation predominantly in the form of rain, and at altitudes above 1700 m and in the form of sleet and snow, with the deposition of a new layer of snow.

Amounts of water of 25…30 l/m2 and isolated over 40 l/m2 will accumulate.

What will the weather be like in Bucharest?

The weather will be generally warm in the Capital during the following days, with maximum thermal values of up to 15 degrees, according to the forecast published on Wednesday by the National Meteorological Administration (ANM). Thus, between January 3, 10:00 a.m. and January 4, 8:00 a.m., in Bucharest, the thermal regime will remain above that specific for the date, the maximum will be around 11 degrees, and the minimum will be 2 – 4 degrees.

During the day, the sky will be cloudy, but the probability of light rain will be reduced, then it will clear. Weak and moderate wind will blow.

At the same time, from Thursday morning until Friday, at 10:00, the weather will become particularly warm for this period in the calendar. The sky will be variable, with some clouds in the afternoon and evening, when there will be conditions for light rain. The wind will generally be moderate, with gust speeds of up to 35 – 40 km/h. The maximum temperature will be 13 – 15 degrees, and the minimum 2 – 4 degrees.
