The Social Democrat leader Liviu Dragnea has notified the authorities in Brazil regarding the alleged investigations targeting him following Rise Project’s disclosures. Dragnea has asked the Brazilian authorities to explain why they have released ‘strictly personal information’ to ‘so-called journalists or civilian investigators’. Dragnea denied he had businesses in Brazil or transferred money to Brazil.

I have notified the federal authorities in Brazil through the Brazilian embassy to Romania, for what has been released on a certain website, for I haven’t reacted so far, but many laws have been broken. For the simple fact that I am just a tourist – I haven’t transferred money to Brazil. I have no business in Brazil, I haven’t laundered money in Brazil, either in Romania or any other country – and because some strictly personal data have been given to some so-called journalists or civilian investigators by breaking some laws, I think I am entitled to receive explanations,” Dragnea stated on Wednesday.

The SocDem leader said he wants to know if those personal data have been officially provided by a federal institution in Brazil or if they have been obtained by illegal means.

Dragnea added that there is no investigation related to him under way in Brazil.

There isn’t such thing. As far as I can remember, no international APB is put out against me, the Interpol does not search me and I don’t agree that a so-called investigator should tell lies regarding some investigations for which a lot of money is spent,” Dragnea pointed out.

Rise Project has recently released new information about Dragnea’s trips and businesses to Brazil.
