Code Yellow for blizzards and heavy snow until Saturday night

Meteorologists have issued new bad weather warnings for the coming days. According to ANM, from Thursday until Saturday, several counties of the country will be affected by a yellow code of snow, blizzard and ice.

According to ANM, between January 26, 6:00 p.m. and January 27, 10:00 a.m., a yellow code for rain, hail and blizzard will be in effect in several counties. In the mentioned interval in Oltenia, locally in Muntenia and in the Southern and Curbura Carpathians, there will be quantitatively significant precipitation and quantities of 25…40 l/m2 will accumulate in general. In the counties of Mehedinți, Gorj, Dolj, Vâlcea, Argeș, Dâmbovița and Prahova, snow will gradually prevail and a layer of snow will be deposited, and in the counties of Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Ilfov and Bucharest there will be precipitation especially in the form of rain and sleet and locally there will be snow. In the Southern and Curbura Carpathians it will snow, a new layer of snow will be deposited and there will be intervals in which there will be blizzards (gusts over 50…70 km/h) and low visibility.

Locally and temporarily, wind intensifications will also be in the rest of the warned area, with speeds generally of 50…60 km/h. In some places there will be dust deposits in the southeast and center.

From Friday, January 27, at 10:00 a.m., a new yellow code for rain, snow and blizzard comes into force, valid until Saturday, January 28, at 10:00 p.m. In Dobrogea, Muntenia, the Southern Carpathians and locally in the south of Moldova and in the Eastern Carpathians, there will be quantitatively significant precipitation and generally 25…40 l/m2 will accumulate. In the low relief areas of Muntenia and Moldova, at first there will be precipitation in the form of snow, sleet and rain, then gradually snow will prevail and a layer of snow will be deposited. In Dobrogea during Friday there will be mostly rain, changing from Friday night to Saturday in sleet and snow. In these areas, locally and temporarily, there will also be intensification of the wind, with speeds generally of 50…60 km/h, blowing the snow.

In the Southern Carpathians and locally in the Eastern Carpathians, it will continue to snow, a consistent layer of snow will be deposited, and there will be intervals with blizzards (gusts over 50…70 km/h) and low visibility. There will be dust deposits in places in Transylvania and Moldova.
