Two new code yellow alerts have been issued on Monday – for heatwave in the south and east of the country and for torrential rains and storms in Banat, Crisana, Maramureș, western Oltenia, in most of Transylvania and in northwestern Moldova.
A code yellow heat wave warning will be in force on Monday and Tuesday. According to meteorologists, the heat wave will persist in the southern and eastern regions. It will be hot locally, thermal discomfort will be high, and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. Maximum temperatures will generally be between 32Cand 37C degrees.
The thermal discomfort will be high also in the southeastern regions on Wednesday, August 31.
The other half of the country will be under a code yellow alert for torrential rains and storms as of Monday 12:00hrs till Tuesday, 10:00hrs.
There will be rainfall and storms in Banat, Crișana, Maramureș, western Oltenia, most part of Transylvania, northwestern Moldavia, in the Western Carpathians, northern Eastern Carpathians and locally in Southern Carpathians.
There will be torrential rains, thunderstorms, intense wind gusts, storms and hail. The weather will remain unstable all through the week.
