Heatwave Alert Thursday: Half of Romania to See Temps Over 36°C

The National Meteorological Administration has issued a new yellow code for heat wave and thermal discomfort, valid on Thursday in the southern half of Romania. In Banat, Oltenia, Muntenia, continental Dobrogea and southern Moldova there will be heatwave and thermal discomfort, and the local temperature-humidity index (ITU) will reach the critical threshold of 80 units.

Maximum temperatures will generally be 35…36 degrees. On Friday, August 2, the heatwave and thermal discomfort will expand, forecasters warn.

The code yellow alert is valid in the counties of Argeş, Brăila, Buzău, Călăraşi, Caraş-Severin, Constanţa, Dâmboviţa, Dolj, Gorj, Galati, Giurgiu, Ilfov, Ialomiţa, Mehedinţi, Olt, Prahova, Tulcea, Timiş, Teleorman, Vâlcea, Vrancea and in the city of Bucharest.

In Bucharest, on Thursday, the weather will be hot and the thermal discomfort will increase, ANM reports in the special forecast for the Capital. Skies will be mostly clear and winds will be light to moderate. The maximum temperature will be 35…36 degrees.
