Heatwave Intensifies: 41°C Temperatures and Tropical Nights

The extreme heat wave persists across most of the country on Friday and is expanding. It will be cool on the Black Sea coast and in the Delta.

The counties of Arad, Timiş, Caraş-Severin, Mehedinţi, Dolj, Olt and Teleorman are also on Friday under a red heat wave warning, in these regions the maximum temperatures reaching 41 degrees, and the minimum temperatures reaching 26 degrees in the Hills of West, according to meteorologists.

According to the National Meteorological Administration, the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. At the same time, there is a heat code orange in the city of Bucharest, and in the counties of Ilfov, Giurgiu, Dâmboviţa, Argeş, Vâlcea, Gorj, Sibiu, Hunedoara, Alba and Bihor.

The heat wave will persist, so that in the center of Crişana, the south-west of Transylvania, the north of Oltenia, as well as in the west and center of Muntenia, there will be heatwave and increased thermal discomfort, and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. The maximum temperatures will generally be 38…39 degrees, and the minimum 21…22 degrees, characterizing a tropical night.

In the rest of the country, with the exception of Constanţa and Tulcea counties, there is a yellow heat code. The heat wave will continue in the north of Crisana, Maramureş, Moldova and locally in Transylvania and Muntenia, where the maximum temperatures will generally be 34…37 degrees. Thermal discomfort will be high, and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will be around the critical threshold of 80 units. Local minimums will generally not drop below 20 degrees.
In the coming days, the heat wave will persist in most of the country, according to ANM.
