Romania is hit by a new heat wave. A mass of hot air from the north of Africa has reached the territory of our country and brings temperatures of 41 Celsius degrees, in the shade. The worst will be in the south and west of the country. There, meteorologists have issued a heat wave code orange.
On Friday, August 4, the heat wave will spread across the country and it will be hot in all plain and plateau areas, with a yellow heat code in effect. Thermal discomfort will be high and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. Maximum temperatures will generally be between 33 and 37 degrees, and minimum temperatures will be between 17 and 20 degrees.![]()
A Code Orange alert will intensify in Crișana and Banat where maximum temperatures of 37…39 degrees will be recorded, as well as in the southern half of Oltenia and Muntenia where there will be maximum temperatures of 39…41 degrees. Thermal discomfort will be accentuated, and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. Minimum temperatures will be between 19 and 25 degrees.![]()

On Saturday (05 August) in Banat, Crisana, Transilvania, Maramureș, Oltenia, Muntenia and the south-east of Moldova it will be hot, the thermal discomfort will remain high, and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. Maximum temperatures will generally be between 33 and 37 degrees. From Saturday afternoon the weather will become unsettled in the western and south-western regions.
