Layoffs in energy sector: Gov’t grants unemployment benefits of RON 16.5 M

The Government granted RON 16.5 M as unemployment benefits for the 3,090 employees to be laid off this year from the Oltenia Energy Complex, Hunedoara Energy Complex and from the mines in Jiu Valley.

Oltenia Energy Complex will get RON 12,364 M to pay 2,000 people to be laid off, Hunedoara Energy Complex will receive RON 3,306 M to pay 840 unemployed, while The National Society of Closing Mines Jiu Valley will lay off 250 people in two stages, who will get RON 831,000.

The unemployment benefit is equal to the difference between the average net salary on the last 3 months before the lay off.

The people who have an accumulated service of 3 to 10 years will get the extra payment for 12 months. People with an accumulated service of 10 to 15 years will get the benefit for 20 months, the employees who have worked 15 to 25 years will receive the benefit 22 months and the ones working at least 25 years will get the benefit 24 months.
