The national health insurance card will be compulsorily used during consultations at the family physicians, in hospitals and in pharmacies as of April 1. It can be used in turn with the physician referrals and medical certificates during February 1 and March 31, reads a government decision draft.

The patients will have their personal information enlisted on the card’s chip and they can be electronically accessed.

The government draft stipulates that the persons who are refusing to receive the card on purpose for religious consciousness reasons will have to fill in a statutory declaration at the national insurance house where they are registered and they will receive a three-month insurance certificate in exchange in order to prove they are paying their health insurances.

The health insurance houses must keep and to file away the refused cards so that they could give them back to their owners if those persons change their minds and ultimately accept the cards.
