New Heatwave Alerts: 40°C Highs, Tropical Nights, and Discomfort

The extreme heat wave extends into Tuesday and Wednesday, according to forecasters. The heat wave will intensify in the areas targeted by a code yellow warning on Monday and the temperatures will reach 40 degrees, while in other counties they will be engulfed in heat.

On Tuesday, August 13, a yellow heat wave code will be in effect in Crișana, south-west Transylvania, north-east Muntenia, south-west Dobrogea, Southern and Western Carpathians, and thermal discomfort will be high, and the temperature-humidity index ( ITU) will slightly exceed the critical threshold of 80 units.

The maximum temperatures will be 35…38 degrees. Local minimums will not drop below 20 degrees and will characterize a tropical night, ANM announced. A portal code will target areas in Banat, Oltenia and most of Muntenia, where the heatwave will intensify, thermal discomfort will be accentuated, and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units.

Particularly high temperatures will be recorded, so the maximums, in the vast majority of them, will be 39…40 degrees. The minimums will be 21…22 degrees, isolated up to 24 degrees in the south of Banat and will characterize a tropical night.On Wednesday, the heat subsides, according to ANM, which issued warnings in this regard. Code Yellow: Wednesday, August 14, in Crișana, south-west Transylvania, north Oltenia, and locally in the west and center of Muntenia, there will be heatwave and high thermal discomfort, and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will slightly exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. The maximum temperatures will be 35…37 degrees. Local minimums will not drop below 20 degrees and will characterize a tropical night.

The heat wave will persist in the coming days in the west, locally in the south and in limited areas in the center, where thermal discomfort will also be high.

Code orange: In Banat, the south and south-west of Oltenia, as well as in the south-west of Muntenia, particularly high temperatures will be recorded, there will be heatwave and thermal discomfort, and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 of units.

Maximum temperatures will generally be 38…39 degrees. The minimums will be 21…22 degrees, isolated up to 24 degrees in the south of Banat and will characterize a tropical night.
