PM Ponta to undergo knee surgery

Prime Minister Victor Ponta was on Thursday at the Central Military Hospital in Bucharest for a knee control. Following investigations the doctors recommended surgery, official sources said.

Following investigations, the doctors recommended surgery in the coming period, possible in end June or early July.

According to the sources the premier made a Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) investigation, following which it was established that has a torn ligament, the meniscus and the cartilage are being affected.

On May 26, Victor Ponta, in Tirana, attending the Cooperation Process in South-Eastern Europe Summit, was greeted on arrival by the President of Albania, apologizing to him that he is limping slightly and explained he was injured during a basketball game.
