The employees of the Bucharest Transport Company (STB) suspended the protest action and resumed the activity after five days in which the public transport in Bucharest was blocked.
Almost 1,400 buses, trolleybuses and trams run in Bucharest, after a five-day strike. The protest was announced by the union on Tuesday morning, after the program started.
The decision came after a round of negotiations held at the Capital City Hall on Monday evening ended without any agreement.
Overnight, however, the trade unionists came to the conclusion that they had reason to give up the strike that left the capital without surface public transport.
“As today 25.01.2022 is a normal working day and the impact on citizens is very high, that on 24.01.2022 at 20:00 we had a discussion with members of the Board of Directors who promised to analyze the wishes of employees In the next period, that today 25.01.2022 we will have a discussion at the Parliament Palace with a parliamentary delegation to analyze the issues at the level of STB SA, the other entities were discussed at the level of each depot and bus base, and the employees decided to suspend the protest action and the resumption of work”, the Transporters’ Union from Bucharest announced on Tuesday.
