Strong wind and blizzard in half of the country

Snowfalls are coming in Romania, and meteorologists have issued blizzard warnings. Thus, strong wind gusts were announced starting Thursday evening in Crişana and northwest Transylvania and blizzard in the mountains, being issued Code Yellow. From Friday noon until Christmas Eve, the wind will intensify throughout the country, and there will be heavy snow in Maramureş and Transylvania. The high rise area will be under a Code Orange Blizzard warning. In Bucharest, the sky will be cloudy, and the wind will intensify, from Friday.

The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued a Code Yellow warning, valid from Thursday, from 10:00 p.m., until Friday, at 12:00 p.m. During the mentioned interval, in most of Crişana and northwestern Transylvania there will be intensification of the wind, with gust speeds generally of 55-60 km/h“, the meteorologists showed.
In the same interval, there will be blizzard in the Western Carpathians, the west of the Southern Carpathians and in the Eastern Carpathians, with low visibility. There will be gusts of 80 km/h, and at altitudes higher than 1,700 meters, of over 90-100 km/h.
The yellow code will be in force in the counties of Satu Mare, Maramureş, Sălaj, Bihor and in some areas of Cluj, Alba, Arad, Hunedoara, Timiş, Caraş-Severin, Bistriţa-Năsăud, Suceava, Neamţ, Bacău, Vrancea, Covasna, Harghita and Mures.
ANM has also issued a Code Yellow warning valid from Friday, from 12:00 p.m., until Sunday, at 10:00 a.m., as wind gusts are expected throughout the country, blizzards and quantitatively moderate snows in the mountains, blizzards in Maramureş and Transylvania. Thus, starting from Friday and until the end of the week, the wind will intensify throughout the country.
In the mountains there will be gusts of 90-100 km/h, and in Transylvania, southern Oltenia, Muntenia and locally in Dobrogea, especially during Saturday, the wind speed will reach 65-70 km/h and in limited areas 80 km /h.
In the other regions there will be local and temporary intensification, with speeds generally of 55-60 km/h. In the mountain area it will snow blizzard, locally moderately quantitative (25-30 l/m2 and over 40-50 l/m2 in the Western Carpathians and in the west of the Southern Carpathians), and the visibility will be significantly reduced.
From the night of Friday to Saturday, in Maramureş and Transylvania it will temporarily snow blizzard and a layer of snow will be deposited. In limited areas, there will be light blizzard snow in Moldova, in Crişana and in Banat.

Orange code alert

Meteorologists have issued an orange blizzard code, starting on Friday, from 6:00 p.m., until Sunday, at 10:00 a.m., for the high mountain area – the counties of Satu Mare, Maramureş, Bistriţa-Năsăud, Suceava, Neamţ, Bacău, Mureş, Harghita, Covasna , Brasov, Vrancea, Buzau, Prahova, Dâmboviţa, Argeş, Vâlcea, Sibiu, Alba, Hunedoara, Gorj, Mehedinţi, Caraş-Severin, Arad, Bihor, Cluj and Sălaj. In the high altitude area (generally above 1,500 m), the wind will blow hard, with gusts of over 110-120 km/h, there will be a strong blizzard, very low visibility and heavy snow”, the ANM said.
In Bucharest, from Thursday, from 10:00 p.m. to Friday, at 8:00 a.m., the sky will be temporarily cloudy, and the wind will blow weak and moderate. The minimum temperature will be -1-0 degrees, lower in the pre-urban area.
From Friday morning until Saturday, at 8:00 a.m., the sky will be cloudy and light rain will be possible for a while. The wind will blow moderately in the first part of the day, then it will gradually intensify, with gusts generally reaching 55 km/h. The maximum temperature will be 9-10 degrees, and the minimum 1-2 degrees.
From Saturday morning to Sunday at 10:00 am, the weather will be windy throughout the interval and there will be gusts of 55-65 km/h. The sky will be more cloudy, and the day will temporarily rain. The maximum temperature will be 7…8 degrees, and the minimum will be around 0 degrees.
