The Pentagon will extend exports of F-35 fighter jets to five countries, Romania included
The United States intends to extend the sales of F-35 fighter jets, manufactured by Lockheed Martin, to five new countries, including Romania, a Pentagon official said on Thursday. In a letter addressed to the House of Representatives, Vice-Admiral Mathias Winter says that among the potential customers are Singapore, Greece, Romania, Spain and Poland, hotnews.ro informs, quoting Reuters.
Other allies intending to buy F-35s are Finland, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates.
Last year, Belgium has chosen F-35 instead of Eurofighter Typhoon in order to renew its fleet of F-16s, a EUR 4 billion deal, the same source informs.
