Approximately 29,000 Romanians will take a mini-vacation between February 13 and 15 on the occasion of Valentine’s Day, mainly heading for domestic destinations where they will spend nearly EUR 2 million. The most wanted domestic destination is Prahova Valley and abroad – Rome, Venice, Paris and Barcelona.

“The number of reservations made for Valentine’s Day is almost 28,500 and tourists will spend only an average RON 300 per person for travel services (accommodation and meals), while the total amount of money to be charged by the tour operators is estimated at RON 8,5 million,” according to a study of the Romanian Tourism Employers’ Federation (FPTR) quoted on Friday by Mediafax.

In addition, according to the Federation, about 500 Romanians will go abroad specifically for spending Valentine’s Day. With the amounts allocated by them, the total expense of the Romanians’ Valentine’s Day mini-holiday reaches nearly EUR 2 million.

“Many couples who don’t have planned a mini-holiday on the occasion of Valentine’s Day will spend it in clubs or in a restaurant,” reads the cited study.

“For departures precisely on Valentine’s Day, an average price would be EUR 260 per person for a city break, including accommodation and flight, the prices being higher than regularly as the hotels are more expensive in those days,” said Manuela Melinescu, Marketing Manager with Vola.ro.

Prices for Prahova Valley range from RON 150 / package – one night of accommodation with breakfast and festive dinner up to RON 900 for a package that includes two nights of accommodation, meals, festive dinner and surprises.
