Storms wreak havoc countrywide

The storms have played havoc countrywide the past weekend, with people injured, with trees and roofs fallen down and destroyed cars. Weathermen have announced the code yellow warning for storms is still in place today in seven counties: Argeş, Braşov, Buzău, Covasna, Dâmboviţa, Harghita and Prahova.

The National Meteorology Administration warned that rainstorms, thunderstorms, strong wind and instability in the atmosphere in the Southern and Curvature Carpathians, as well as in Muntenia. Falls will exceed 20-25l/sqm and in some areas even 35l/sqm.

The code yellow alert is expiring today at 8 p.m.

Six people injured following storms in Mehedinti, Olt and Dolj

A billboard has fallen over a car with four people aboard, including two children. Another person has been injured after a gazebo had collapsed in a courtyard in Mehedinti. A broken window has wounded another person in Drobeta Turnu Severin.

More blocks of flats have remained roofless, while several trees have fallen down some cars in the same county.

Tens of poles and trees have also fallen down in Olt county, damaging parked cars. Two trees have damaged two cars in Slatina, while more storm-related problems have been also reported in Caracal town.

19 fallen trees have been recorded in Dolj county as well, while a fallen roof from a block of flats have damaged a gas pipeline.

A code red alert has been in place in Mehedinti, Olt and Dolj counties on Sunday.

Storm in Bucharest, too

Firefighters in Bucharest have intervened in several locations in the Capital on Monday morning after the storm. Several trees have fallen down in the Regie, Crangasi and Mihai Bravo districts, while a barrier in Berceni have been ripped off by the strong wind.

Plaster of a block of flats in Militari has fallen down the street.

Bucharest and Ilfov county have been also under a nowcasting code orange alert for storms and hail Monday night.

Tens of roofs and over 100 trees have fallen down by the storms countrywide in the past 24 hours.
