Tense situation in Valea Jiului, employees dissatisfied by the ‘forced leave’
A tense situation in Valea Jiului mining region, where employees of non-productive sectors of the Hunedoara Energy Complex have halted activity, dissatisfied with the management’s decision to send them on a so-called ‘forced leave’ during which they are to be paid 75% of the salary, Radio Romania reports.
Their protest has been joined by the Muntele trade union leaders who say that without any staff at the surface the coal miners underground cannot work.
Trade unionists arrived in front of the Energy Complex Hunedoara in Petrosani (south-western Romania) where the disgruntled employees were also expected, but were not able to contact anyone from the company’s management.
They are unhappy with the management’s lack of transparency, which communicate the decisions without any prior consultation, and have requested the Director General’s resignation.
