The biggest cable stayed road bridge in Romania opens early next week

The new road bridge crossing the Danube-Black Sea Channel in Agigea (Constanta County) and linking DN 39 and A4 motorway, which is the biggest cable stayed bridge in Romania, will open to traffic early next week.

According to the National Company managing the Sea Ports, the final assembling works have been concluded on October 6. The bridge is financed by the EU’ structural funds and by the state budget, with a total value of almost EUR 192m (almost EUR 44m).

It has a total length of 360 meters, a central bay of 200 meters, while the width is 17.4 meters, enabling the four-lane traffic.

The free height under the bridge’s platform is 18.4 meters. The bankseats that are supporting the platform through brace beams are 66-meter high above the sea level.

The construction works started in July 2010, after being late for more than half of year due to the litigations filed against the assigning procedures of the contract and against the selection of the consultant.
